ingredients
• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 2 teaspoons ground ginger
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/2 cup (1 stick) unslated butter melted
• 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
• 1/2 cup unsulphured molasses
• 1 egg room temperature
• 1/2 cup waterroom temperature

1. set up
- preheat oven to 350F
- line a cupcake/muffin pan with cupcake liners
2. dry ingredients
in a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ground ginger, ground cloves, and salt.

3. cream together
using a handheld mixer or a stand mixer, beat butter, brown sugar, molasses, and egg on medium-high speed until light brown (about 3 mins).

4. combine
- with mixer on low, add 1/3 of flour mixture to the melted butter mixture.
- continue mixing as you add 1/4 cup water.
- repeat ending with the flour mixture.
- stir just until flour is combined. do not overmix

5. bake
- divide batter evenly into prepared muffin pan, filling 12 cupcake liners 2/3 full.
- bake for 18 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
- remove from oven and let cool in pan for about 5 mins before cooling completely on wire rack.
